I'm not quite sure just what part of the galaxy I was astral projecting to
when I wrote that Raymond... Maybe it was back to when I was fixing a
friend's desktop that had a huge collection of viruses on it. I don't think
I was using PM, but I did something like deleting partitions or reformatting
or something... and all of a sudden I had NO access to the HDD anymore. I
think it was Neil who suggested I see if the manufacturer had a HDD
diagnostic utility. Found that and ran it.... but it couldn't see the drive
either. I wondered if one or all of the viruses had somehow caused
mechanical failure, or my deleting partitions or reformatting or whatever it
was... though most people said that was impossible. But somehow that drive
went south AFTER it booted and was in the process of working fine.

Now if you ask, “>Umm ... how can you damage the HDD >DATA< using pmagic?”
... I’d have a nice list for you that probably conjures up visions of why
people report things like:

“...I just get into the habit of treating partition conversions as a
taboo subject ever since a number of my colleagues ruined their
installations by doing so.”

Sound familiar? ;-P

At some point ASCAP will wake up and find out that they can still make a
bigger killing at selling music online than they ever did at selling CDs,
cassettes, 8 track carts, LPs and everything else combined... WHILE huge
number of people trade tracks at the same time!

Thank you... Thank you… (Idiot proudly bows to appropriately stupefied and
horrified audience...)
