I am just trying to get it in the best > starting point before I install additional applications. > > Thanks, Mark My recollection is that Toshiba strongly recommends the BIOS be upgraded to at minimum V7.30 *prior* to installation of W98. There is a patch of sorts to "backward upgrade" in cases such as yours, where W98 has been installed w/o upgrading BIOS, on the Tosh support site. Researching this issue before installing W98 on my L100, it became clear that the preferential course was to do the BIOS upgrade first. After sorting that out....To have any hope of successful hiberation under W98, download and install the L100 utilities for W95 *first*, then install the W98 Power Saver upgrade. Enable hibernation using W98 Power Management in ControlPanel, and set the option to hibernate "when I press the power button", and set standby if desired, but don't change any of the other settings in W98 Power management, use the Tosh W95 Power Saver instead. And don't forget to reserve the 1010-1040 cylinder area for hibernation if your HDD is >8GB. There are a number of posts available in the archives on this topic. Good luck!
