If its OK to have a .pif file associated with it, just right-click on it in
Windows explorer and select properties. In one of the tabs it'll have an
option to close the window after it finishes, select that then click OK.
It'll write a .pif file with the same name as the batch file, just ignore
it (but don't delete it), Windows will look for it when it executes the
batch file and follow its instructions.

I remember trying the exit command and finding that in at least some
situations it doesn't work ... I can't remember the exact circumstances
however.
