Is there a similar option for the CT100, or >possibly a PC Card option? There is a small docking bar for the 100/110 series as well (although I do know in some markets it was sold as an extra). Failing that, you could use IrDA to sync your palm (works just as fast as normal serial sync in my experience) and other IrDA compatible devices. You could also see if the relevant device you're using (eg. GPS) can survive with only the Tx and Rx lines in which case you could feed the data through an IrDA driver IC and use the IrDA port as before. If you need an actual serial port, you could do a similar thing I did with the PS/2 ports and solder to the RS-232 controller on the motherboard and bring the connections out. Bear in mind there isn't an RS-232 driver IC (voltage pump, etc.) on the motherboard so you'll need to add one externally (you can get the 5V required from the same place I did for the PS/2 ports, details at www.raybot.net). This is of course only if you're comfortable making modifications to the laptop!!! Failing THAT, there are RS-232 PCMCIA cards out there (don't ask me where though, I've only heard of them ... hehe)! If you can't find any and you've got a PCMCIA to USB card you could also get a USB to serial connector (in fact I know Targus sell a USB to minidock connector that has parallel, serial, 2xPS/2 and 2 or 3 more USB ports). Of course if you don't have a PCMCIA USB card then this is a bit pointless as the only other way of getting USB is to use the big docking station.
