Are you SURE your ActionTec is a CARDBUS card or is it merely CARDBUS COMPATIBLE? Remember, older 16 bit cards are still cardbus compatible as cardbus controllers are backwards compatible. Also, there are plenty of new cards coming out that aren't cardbus (eg. most if not all IEEE802.11 wireless cards). As for the bumps, it is possible that they may not appear on newer cardbus cards (although all the ones I've seen have the bumps) but have a close look on the right hand side of the connector. The single ledge should be higher than the one for the non-cardbus card (the idea being if you put a cardbus card into a non-cardbus connector it'll cause damage so it physically shouldn't fit). If the connectors are identical, I'd say its more likely your card is NOT a true cardbus card. You can also identify them in *most* cases by the standard PC card symbols: __ /PC\ /Card\ ------ and __ /CB\ /____\ both appearing on the label (non-cardbus cards won't have the CB symbol).
