I think I'll stick with the US models. I was considering biding for the 1000ss on ebay, and would not be able to stock up on parts. I'm comfortable with electronics and computers, but not a techie. I'd probably enhance my changes of discovering difficult to solve problems with the Japanese model. Too bad, I do like the larger RAM capacity.
