Hey Raymond,

From: Raymond <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

You'll notice that on ANY CD-ROM drive, the head does in fact 'float' on little coils or shims (I found this out the hard way when trying to use a cotton bud to clean one and pushed the lens mechanism too hard).
Which reminds me that I need to find something to clean the lens properly. Would what we refer to as the trade name, Q-tip be soft enough? Hmmm... and I have cheap generiec ones.

David had mentioned a special fiber cloth for cleaning eyeglasses I think it was. Short of that, I'm trying to figure out what I may have around that would work. I used to have fiber sheets made to clean camera lenses to fold up, tear, and use the torn edge for cleaning if I recall. But I can't think of anything I have at hand at this point.
I just use what I presume you call a Q-tip and a little alcohol ... the thing is, often the lens isn't actually dirty, there's just a piece of dust that's landed in just the wrong place and needs removal.
