Subject: HELP!! on my Libretto 50CT battery
Hi!
I have a Libretto 50CT whose battery went dead 5 days ago. I was able to
buy 2nd hand(refurbished) batteries from a previous Libretto 70CT owner
whose unit conked out after a 4 feet drop. I tried the 70CT batteries on my
unit and turned it on and it worked just fine!! Happily I went home, and
cleaned the 3 batteries I bought. However, while wiping it and on close
inspection, I found on the inscriptions on the battery, the following
message....!! "Caution" Do not dispose of in fire.......Do not directly
connect(short circuit)....Do not use other battery chargers......Do not use
with Libretto 50CT!!!! Whoa!!! What happened..!! Stupid me....I didn't
read closely while buying it. The Model No. of the battery I bought is
PA2452U DC 10.8V 1200 mAh...
So what is wrong here...?? how come I cannot use this battery on my 50CT?
It fits fine, it has the same voltage, it has the same ampere rating...I am
sure Toshiba didn't put these inscriptions by mistake...It was there for a
reason...
FYI, I was previously using an extended battery(the battery that conked
out). The part no. of that battery is PA2498U DC 10.8V 2400 mAh.
I tried to do a little research on the net, but it seems the 50CT and 70CT
batteries can be interchanged, (sites I checked are
http://www.impactcomputers.com/toshiba-libretto-50ct-parts.html and others)
But one site says, http://www.synack.net/libretto/#faq_bat you can't
interchage batteries.
So can anyone help me decide which of the two sites above is correct?? Can
anyone also give me information why I can't make use of these batteries???
Will it destroy my unit if I insist on using it??(But of course, I didn't
even try to put it again on my unit after reading the inscriptions on the
battery) Will it explode or anything like that...??
I don't know if I can return these batteries again, but if I can't REALLY
use these on my unit and need should be then I guess I will have to ask
that guy I bought these from, really nice... and hope he gives me back my
money....
Thanks to all!!
oly
