Usually a bad/not finished/badly supported device driver will cause this

In what way is it not going into standby? Is it throwing up the warning "A program or device is not letting Windows go into standby" or a message to that effect, or is it going into standby and waking straight back up again, or is it not even responding to the standby command? How are you telling it to go into standby (are you pressing the power button, closing the lid, going start>shutdown>suspend/hibernate or using Xin Feng's suspend/hibernate programs)? In fact, have you tried his 'force suspend' and 'force hibernate' programs (www.fixup.net)? For that matter, is this only falling over on suspend or is it also not hibernating as well?
