There are a series of utilities and drivers written specifically for the
L100CT at the Toshiba site. Not to scare you off, but there has developed on this
list and elsewhere (www.fixup.net) a "recipe", or maybe several, for
preparing a new hard drive in a Libretto. Unless specific procedures are followed,
you'll have trouble with hibernation, standby, and maybe other features. Your
floppy problem is one, albeit minor, example. When you visit the Tosh support
site, download the L110CT W98 Floppy Drive driver, unzip it and install. It
will fix you up (assuming you have the Libretto-specific floppy drive, that is).

Check the archives of this site (sorry, I don't have the URL on this PC) for
tons of past posts on setting up W98. Having said that, lots of Librettoists
have decided that W2K is the preferred operating system. I can't disagree, as
my carefully prepared W98se install is now starting to flake out. I'll be
setting up my new 40GB HDD dual-boot, W98se & W2K Pro.

You didn't do anything wrong with your attempt at battery charging - probably
just have a bad battery. If you can locate a new PA2503UR battery, you'll
get about 4 hours of light, power-conscious use from it. The higher-capacity
battery mentioned on this list I think was reported to run for about 4.5-5
hours, but it is custom-made by one of the list members.

Good luck!

Lee
