To view NTFS systems under DOS, there are truck loads of utilities that'll give
you access:
http://www.google.com/search?q=ntfs+for+dos&sourceid=opera&num=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Binary disk editors, Ghost, Partition Magic, etc. don't care.

Also, if there's anything NTFS there, you can also see if an emergency boot
disk for that OS can see anything.
