The trouble is, if you ignore setting up the hibernation area properly and the libretto goes to hibernate due to low battery power then it will destroy any data and corrupt any partitions that use that space. It's pretty easy to do once you can understand the process. I've heard arguments for Drive Overlay software but in my personal experience it's just as easy and reliable to do without. I'll go through my process once again just for kicks. 1) Insert a drive larger than 8 gb in the Libby. 2) Boot to DOS and use FDisk to create a 2gb primary partition formatted as FAT/FAT32 and mark it as active. 3) Use FDisk to create another primary partition and use all the available space. This will only allow the space from 2gb to the beginning of the hibernation partition to be used. This is fine. 4) Once the above partitions are created use something like Partition Magic (personal favorite although fairly decent freeware alternatives exist) and create a 100Mb partition at the end of the partition created in step 3. This will allow enough space for the hibernation data. Most people say it's around 72mb but I figure better safe than sorry. 5) Create an extended partition using the remainder of the free space and create as many logical drives within that as you need/want. 6) (Optional but good practice) Delete the partition created in step four. Once Windows9x and above have loaded they use their own IDE driver and don't rely on the Libbys broken/outdated BIOS for access to the hard drive so all is fine, it's only if you run DOS that you'll have trouble viewing the remaining portion of the drive. This method also ensures that programs like Ghost will run without any messing around. ************************************************************** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives -------TO UNSUBSCRIBE------- Reply to any of the list messages.
