Heh... I guess it ought to, huh? :-D But I guess you
answered what I was curious about... and that is that
your Slackware setup seems to have at >least< the
resources left over that the W98SE setup on my 50 did
playing MP3s with MM, if not a bit more.

Lynx!! Wow... people are still using Lynx! Brings
back memories of setting up MOSAIC for the 1st time.

Okay... I'd guess it's going to be more resource
friendly on the 50 that v10... yes?

Well... I've toyed with Linux off and on from as far
back as 1996, but it's always ended up being way to
complicated for my limited understanding for how it
works.
I would like to get quality audio playback and
recording going on either my 70 or 100 at some point.
And if I can get a version of Linux set up, and a
sound card going that will do the job, I could create
a partition on my 40GB HDD specifically for that. By
that point I may well have a 80GB HDD or larger to
house all my MP3s.

Neil actually got the initial installation of Mandrake
on our 50s pared down pretty substantially. And then
he chose a shell (iceman?) that was as resource
friendly as he could find. But I could never get MP3s
to play on it and have as much in terms of resources
left over as my MM/W98SE setup on the 50.
Neil??
