(This email is written on libretto with mp3 playing)
Under Linux you can measure resaurces, so I can tell exactly how much resurces
are free :)
Here it goes:
procs memory swap io system cpu
r b w swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id
1 0 0 1132 816 1320 21972 0 0 26 0 216 58 76 7 17
1 0 1 1132 816 1320 21972 0 0 26 0 213 56 73 7 20
1 0 0 1132 848 1320 21940 0 0 19 0 221 90 79 10 11
1 0 0 1132 848 1320 21940 0 0 26 0 222 71 75 8 17
1 0 0 1132 876 1320 21908 0 0 26 0 203 40 70 6 24
1 0 0 1132 880 1320 21908 0 0 26 0 204 44 70 6 24
1 0 0 1132 880 1320 21908 0 0 26 0 206 41 70 6 24
Here are 5sec averages for my libretto, first 4 lines was when I was writing
to you, last 3 are when I was reading and copying this statistics :)
Interesting things: last 3 columns means CPU: User/System/Idle.
User -- decompressing mp3, runnig other programs etc.
System -- usually driver ('playing') and IO operations (reading hdd for ex)
Idle -- idle :)
The other things interesting: cache - means how much memory is used for disk
caching (almost 22MB). Se memory usage is: 5584KB, and free memory is 24140KB,
the rest is used by kernel and other things.

Links is a (MUCH) better version of lynx, it has really good table and frames
support :)
Besides, it's actively developed, latest versions have some javascript support
and graphical version (using svgalib or X servers).
(from time to time i'm using good old lynx too :)

Not really,

Slackware didn't change for all those years, but other distros should
be much easier to use :)

Possibly the main reason was using X Window, I'm using text console for 95% of
time :)
