grrr...
more extensive testing reveals:
1) playing music for 1 hour on my L110 with 20GB HD + TDK music card is
flawless. No glitches i can hear or problems playing MP3 music for that period
of time. Clean and no problems.
2) The audio recording was tested several times with the 32-bit and
multi-word access turned OFF, and with longer recordings, the
glitch/pop/defects revealed themselves once more. =( THUS, PROBLEM STILL NOT
SOLVED!
In the long term, this may be a difficult problem to resolve w/o stripping
the system down to just a base install of W98 + TDK drivers, and I'll have to
find some time someday to do this after backing up my 20GB HD.
