Subject: Re: [LIB] Possible Audio glitch solution; me in Japan soon?

I've been waiting eagerly for a update from David on
how he's doing to resolve his recording problem with
the TDK sound card on his Libby (110?). Haven't heard
much from him as of late. He must bne busy with
planning his trip to Japan.

I've managed to get a 98Lite partition set up on my
L70 & 40GB HDD (just ignored the out of order
partitions, but still worry about problems with
EZ-Drive, Ghost and PM dancing together), and found
the card recorded nicely for over an hour using an old
copy of SoundForge without any errors in the resulting
.wav file.

There is one problem I'm confronted with that concerns
me. The output line-out level from my receiver shows
up in the line-in from the card as severely reduced in
level. It only reaches up to -10db in SF after
cranking the aux-in/line-in volume all the way up.
The same receiver line-out to my desktop's sound
card's line-in pumps the level up to -3db in SF. I
can normalize the resulting low level audio file up to
-3db after the fact. But that means the s/n ration
will tag along.

Not quite sure if this can be solved. Not a whole lot
of people using those old sound cards anymore to
bounce the problem off of through.

Matt
