One item that David mentioned that you didn't: boot
partition must be marked "active". Normally this
would be done by the install process but you may need
to do it manually using DOS FDISK or some other
partitioning utility. Did you format C: drive as
FAT32 or NTFS? If FAT32 then you can boot DOS and see
if the correct files are on the drive.

is.
