you can make a bootable start-up disk, you have to find the drivers for your Sony CD model
and hack the the start-up disk



I did check BIOS, and the boot priority is CD-ROM > FDD > HDD, so I'm set there. And it looks like it's got the correct CD-ROM dridve, as the very look of the drive matches that of the notebook. That, and we know the original owner, and it would seem the CD-ROM drive was probably part of the original package

I have had problemw with some Windows CD's, it they are bootleg or badly make, cd is worn, or make
from cheap cd disks.
It best to use the original CD or a good clean copy.

David's comment about the possibility that it may require not powering it on when booting from a Windows 98 installation CD is another point that will be good to keep in mind.
