as far as I've noticed the video memory ajusts automagically in 2.6.x. anyway it adjusts automagically in the bios. so if there is a problem, linux would not be disabling the bios from controlling the video, i would imagine.

I've read that the native resolution for u100 is 1280x768, isn't it?

I think there could be some problem related to video memory on
hibernation ..
Have you already tried to decrease video memory and then hibernate?
