Hi Vitaly,

I found some issues with your patchset but I still went ahead and applied your 
patches, fixing them as I applied them.  I'm going to reply to each patch with 
comments in case you are interested and I'll repost them in a bit once I fix 
the biggest issue: no python bindings or tests.

Once I repost the patches please take a look to see what I was hoping to see 
in your patchset.
