My opinion is that the reverse-engineering-related topics there are a combination of people who just do not know better and those who wish to spread FUD because they do not want to compete with real-world businesses trying to bridge the gap to Second Life.
If there is FUD I suggest to add content to the FAQ at http://www.libsecondlife.org/content/view/12/28/ where all wrong arguments or questions are answered. Than one always can link to that.
