Which only works fine for a project that actually releases. On the other hand, for a project that very much demonstrated that it has no trouble forcing app developers to use the git repo for 2 years, with no possibility to use the version field, the argument isn't that insane. One of the reasons we forked was because new versions of libusb didn't occur... which of course makes it very difficult to compare versions in a libusb based app. And Peter established that he is categorically opposed to RERO, so I don't foresee the 1.0.9 release changing much. Once again, if the majority votes to have the field, I'll go with it. But I hope that doesn't prevent me from trying to indicate why I see it as a bad idea.
