I tested two older distros, Debian 5.0 (2009) and Ubuntu 8.04 (2008)
and your patch is good. BTW, I updated automake/autoconf/libtool in
the Debian 5.0 installation to latest release version.

Since libusbx is only in Debian unstable (and probably testing soon),
it should not be an issue. But it is good to inform him.
