In light of me actually trying out chat mode view I have found a lot of things I do not like about it that I consider UI bugs and should be fixed. If you have used my gtk plugin (jons-gtk-gui) you'll see how I have implemented other events in there. I'm not saying that it is the correct way, but that I would handle other events directly from the chat mode message view. For example, if a file transfer request came in, it would pop up a new dialog asking to grant or deny the request. Btw, that's the > way how it works in WinIcq. ;) It should activate the chat window, since by double clicking the event on the contact list, it is safe to assume they want to see the event. And it is possible to do that with Qt.
