Good idea.
I'll have a deeper look into that.
This does not only affect the part after the equal sign, also the part 
*before* it is affected by this change.

IMO This change would not break older configuration files, because any strings 
with trailing or leading spaces were not allowed yet, conversion would take 
place automatically.
