Without looking at this patch, I have to say this could be a ${DEITY}send. I have atleast four people in my contact list who use LICQ, and with whom I have secure connections open with on a regular basis (some of them have to establish it with me, as they're (poorly) firewalled, some can be opened in either direction) and more often than not LICQ will decide for me that it should send through server. I find that it happens almost every time I return from an 'Away' mode, but will often happen simply from one message to the next. The second patch is called licq-dumb_sendserver.diff and it adds an option to the qt-gui to use the user's last selection as the default for the Send Through Server checkbox. The reason some people might prefer this is that licq isn't always right about whether sending through the server is required.
Were it not for the warning dialogue telling me "If you send through server, the message can not be sent securely - continue?" I'd probably wind up sending a lot of messages through the server.
Telling LICQ to remember and use the last setting would be an absolute blessing, and IMHO such functionality should be default in the client.
I'm quite pleased that "Auto request secure" has become somewhat more intelligent in recent builds. Some of the LICQ users on my list will occasionally use Windows, in which case I can't use SSL. Originally, I recall LICQ trying to establish a tunnel when they came online, when they sent me a message, when I sent them a message ... it seemed like if I went to the bathroom it would try to request.
So all in all that's become quite a timesaver, so if we can get the "Send through server" fixed, I'll be happy as a pig in feces. ;)
