I attached an additional patch which implements the last two remaining methods 
of the interface and the DCOP signal.

As the KIMProxy implementation finds suitable IM applications by querying 
KDE's application and service data base, the application's .desktop file has 
to contain two entries.

I managed to achieve the same by installing an additional .desktop file into 
the KDE service directory (see second attached file)

So either way is fine from KDE's point of view.

KDE applications that install such service descriptors do this by adding them 
to the Makefile.am variable
kde_services_DATA
