Greetings.

I have some ideas I could use a little help with. I hope I send this mail to the right list, if not please accept my apoligizes.

I used to use licq but thought I should try a few other icq clients just for fun. Tried a few and got hooked on ickle. Now I'm trying to get back but 2 things stop me and it is these 2 things I would need some help with.

Id gladly hack a bit myself but could use a few hints to where to start.
I have no preference for what gui to use (qt or gtk) but have never coded any gtk at all so maybe qt will be easier for me.

1. When I get a message and open the message window I only see the last message and not (as I do in ickle) the last 10 messages. If i send a question to a friend and he responds after 2 h I have forgotten what I asked and need to check the history. Would like the last 10 (or a number I can set) to show instead of just the last message.

If my explanation is lacking try ickle and you will see what I mean.

2. I use multiple desktops and sometimes I forget to close an icq message window when I change desktop. If now the user I was talking to answers I get no symbol in the main window (which I have sticky so I can see it on all desktops) since the message window is open. I would much rather get a normal "new message" icon that stays there until I activate the message window. That way I will be less likely to miss any messages.

No 1 is what is most important (and I guess requires least coding). No 2 would be nice but is of less importance.

So how do I get this functionality? Maybe it allready exists but I just have missed it? Or I should start looking in what file?

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks a lot for taking time to read this.

Kind regards,

Fredrik Hultkrantz
