1. When I get a message and open the message window I only see the last message and not (as I do in ickle) the last 10 messages. If i send a question to a friend and he responds after 2 h I have forgotten what I asked and need to check the history. Would like the last 10 (or a number I can set) to show instead of just the last message.

When it comes to GUI's really, paying attention to the nitty-gritty details
of interaction requires more depth than my mind seems to be able to handle.
But I think that "Chatmode Message View" is what you want to enable in
Menu -> Options -> General of the qt-gui plugin. You get the whole
conversation.

Thanks for your answer.

Chatmode Message View is almost what I meant (I've been using it for some time) but it is lacking what I was looking for.

When I have chatmode enabled and double click on a user to send him/her a message the top text box is empty. Same thing when I double click on a user to read an incoming message. The top text box only contains his/her answer(s). It is this that I would like to change so that that top box always contained the last 10 (or a number I specify) messages (the last part of the history really).

So when I double click a user to send a message I see the last messages we sent to each other direct in the top text box. And when I read an answer I see what I wrote (which makes it much more easy to put the aswer in context)

I hope this made it a bit clearer.

2. I use multiple desktops and sometimes I forget to close an icq message window when I change desktop. If now the user I was talking to answers I get no symbol in the main window (which I have sticky so I can see it on all desktops) since the message window is open. I would much rather get a normal "new message" icon that stays there until I activate the message window. That way I will be less likely to miss any messages.

ah! you mean detect whether there's an open window msg in a different workspace
from the active one and not pop-up the message in that case if it's the same user? I've really got no idea at what level (Gnome, gtk, qt, X ??) hacking is
required for this. Could you have a look at those sound onEvent options again?
:P And what happens if you disable the "Auto-Popup Incoming Msg" option?
(It's kind of late, so I'm doing what I can, which helps me to keep awake until
soccer starts)

Auto-Popup Incoming Msg is disabled. All I really want is for the icon that shows that I've got a new message to keep flashing until I've activated the message window with that message. If I haven't got the window open this is by double clicking the user that sent the message (as it works now). If I've left the message window of that user open the icon should keep blinking until I've made that window active (in my case by moving the mouse pointer to it (using sloppy focus)). As it is now if the message window of the user that sends the message is open (even though it isn't activated but just open) the new message icon doesn't blink.

Thanks a lot for helping me!

Kind regards,

Fredrik Hultkrantz
