It's perhaps because of AOL's modification in the OSCAR protocol - since
last week no user-side contact list are possible. Or accurately - they are
possible, but only authorized users in server-side list can be seen
online.
Simply request authorization and also authorize all users in your list,
and ensure they are in server-side contact list.
