If you're getting messed up git pulls, that's a really serious issue, but something way beyond this list. You should take any failure Git updates to the GitHub or main Git lists. In terms of Maven, I don't know what to tell you. I run Maven and about once a month or so, I blow away my repositories. Since I've been periodically blowing about .m2, I haven't had a single Maven-related problem. The only thing I can think of is that you should include both the Lift Webkit and Lift Utils in your POM file.
