Dear Lorri,

I'm sorry you felt attacked. Let me try and explain my position. I don't
have much of a nationalistic feeling. Don't particularly have an
"Indian" identity. Children in India are not require or encouraged to
pledge their allegiance to the Flag. They grow up knowing they are Hindu
or Muslim or...more than any other identity. And within Hindu there is a
very strong identity with North or South or East :)

sooo if I had said the sort of things about India, that I said about
America, no individual Indian would feel attacked because they would
assume I speak about the Indian govt. and the masses who are manipulated
to blindly support the govt.

When I write on this list or talk to you I do not see you as an
American. The wonder of email for me is that it allows me to interact
without boundaries. There is no colour, sex, religion behind Lorri -
just an energy. not sure this is making sense but...?

> There are atrocities far greater going on in your country all the time, yet
>no one is pointing a finger and blaming all the citizens.

I truly never meant this to become a "mines-better-than-yours"
discussion.

"Far greater", I don't know about. I think I would have to be at the
receiving end of the atrocities to gauge whether it is worse to be a
minority in India, USA, Kosovo, But yes there are horrors happening here
each day. As there are in Ceylon, Indonesia, Ireland, Tibet, Africa,
Russia, and on and on. No one is pointing a finger at Indians because
the world community does not care what happens in Third world countries.
Perhaps you could say India is to Pakistan and Ceylon what USA is to the
world. A BIG bully. But India is poor and weak and cannot have an impact
on the survival of the world so who cares? And honestly if I talked
about India on this list you'd be bored to tears because our leaders are
not familiar to you. At least not the way Clinton is to us.

> Those that are not in line with what
>the majority feel, sooner or later are voted out of office.

Unfortunately there will be no Kosovo & perhaps Serbia left by then.
>From what I read the vast majority in America IS supporting this war.
And apart from you and perhaps 1 or 2 others I have not heard much
criticism of the war, on this list. Also you and others have always told
me public opinion is very powerful in America. The leaders gauge and
prepare (read manipulate) public sentiment very carefully before doing
anything as drastic as destroying a foreign country. Public opinion
could indeed stop the war.

> They are picketing the white house.

again according to the news the pickets are pathetically tiny and made
up largely of Serbians. Basically Americans are HAPPY with the economy
and don't want to rock the boat. The war is far away and the 650000
refugees & the awful suffering of the Serbians are of little concern.

>They are sending aid in the form of money, clothing and food to the refugees and
>>ultimately it is OUR American dollars that will rebuild that country.

Yes war has always made some people rich. And this destroy-and-rebuild
syndrome has been repeated a number of times. It's the greatest way to
make a country dependent on US aid and so controlled by USA.

> I would also like to point out that America is not the one in charge of this
>>mission, but NATO, which is a conglomeration of many countries.

hehehe that is true in theory but Clinton knows he controls NATO and the
UN. Point is who controls Clinton :)

> The wake up call is not just for America, but for the entire world, including your
>>country which is testing nuclear weapons as we speak.

:) America leads the world! No not nuclear this time just missiles which
COULD carry nuclear warhead. America does not have exclusive rights on
insanity :) it is a worldwide epidemic!

Someone on another list said, "All govts. are evil" and I agree. I think
Americans have a tendency to think they are the best and have a little
more problem looking at themselves. They are perhaps programmed from
early childhood to ignore their blood soaked past and focus only on the
glory of their country. This has positive & negative to it.

It is my hope that we will one day be able to relate without boundaries.
As one large spiritual community. No colour, sex, religion, age,
economic status etc....no need to feel superior or inferior because one
is American or Indian or Hindu or Christian. And certainly no need to
reject being Christian, Hindu, American, Indian either
