From 2.15.42 regtests. This is suspected to be the result of the volta
changes, tranche 2 (issue 2673). See the results from the
volta-broken-left-edge regtest. I propose we revert that patch if it is
proven to be the culprit (I'll test). As a potential simple reversion, I'm
not marking this as critical.
