I'm posting a patch to reverse the original patch.
The original patch warns for most every early end of a spanner, which is
annoying.
When I wrote comment 3 above, \endSpanners was broken (I thought I had just
used convert-ly wrongly) so I was testing only on scores that didn't end
spanners early.
