The comments were of the order "the system in place is ideal, so it is not worth pushing this patch until you change the system" to which I replied "I don't feel this is a good reason to block the patch, especially as a systemic change would take a long time."

It seems like the type of debate that should be for patch_review instead of needs_work, as it is not about the merits of the patch but rather the merits of basing a patch on an admittedly faulty system where different properties are named the same thing.

Sorry for not explaining this earlier - it's tough to follow all this.
