It's a bit of plus and minus. I agree that the 2.16 output looks better at
the beginning of the third bar with the guide indication allowed to cross
the barline so that there isn't a large gap after the barline, but if you
look at the guide indications on the last chord, in 2.16 one of them is
actually colliding with the previous note, whereas that doesn't happen with
the 2.17.17 output.
