Well, allowing a guide indication at the start of a bar to cross the
barline is certainly something that I have seen in commercial scores. I've
attached an example from an early-1980s Universal Edition score. Although,
with Lilypond here, not crossing the barline seems to happen because the
guide indication is within the stave. Raise everything by a octave and the
indication happily crosses the barline.
