I am in no way disagreeing that this is the correct way to correct the
problem, and I repeat my thanks that you have tackled it. I'm still
somewhat unhappy about the way you approached my earlier attempts to
correct for this bug, however.
As to the incipit-width default issue. If this is not specified there is
an error when LilyPond runs:
programming error: cannot evaluate "incipit-width-default" in
module "#<module 7f7d44232700>", setting to "0"
Setting the default to 1 cm in this way also does not (for whatever reason)
over-ride the "alternative" default of indent * 0.5. This is the
experimental result of running a test with no specified incipit-width and
an indent of 8 cm. The indent is 8 cm as measured by ruler, the incipit
width is 4 cm.
