I recently worked on Application Usage to update building and installation instructions for packagers and builders. This is completely outside GDP, it's intended to make packagers' life easier when they want to package 2.12, and avoid complaints about known details and issues on LilyPond lists (and documenting such issues takes little time in comparison with the time spent to investigate, so that's fine).
