Organist here. I like this merge. As I wrote in a comment on gitlab, perhaps \ltoe and the other similar commands should be marked as deprecated, so that we don't have to mess with older scores where this may have been fixed by the user.

This reminds me that I think it would be a good idea to write an article in the Keyboard section of the Lilypond Notation Reference [1] on writing organ music, and I will try to take a stab at it. Pedal markings are far from the only unique part of organ music that should be covered. I think that other things like registration indications and horizontal brackets to designate different manuals should be mentioned.

However, like pipe organs themselves, organ notation is not very standardized even today, and there are several ways to engrave things like registration indications depending on what nationality or engraving house you are replicating. For this reason, I don't think adding more commands in vanilla Lilypond to handle things like registration indications is needed (and also, organists make up a very small market share of Lilypond users, anyway).
