Frescobaldy is s good choice to begin with.
It *is* somewhat complex but if you don't rush and don't hesitate to ask it is
feasible - and rewarding.
Enter a minimal file in Frescobaldi:
{ c' }
and hit the compile button. If that produces a minimal score you've done the
first step.
