Well, I took a couple of seconds, and failed. Then, just now, I realized there’s a possible solution: <http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2008-09/msg00480.html> I don’t know if markup (or even “fake markup”) support in pedalSustainStrings has been added officially… but it certainly could be, if you (or someone else) sends the appropriate patch.
