Hi Jogchum, I would try 2 variants: 1. Remove the short one voice period and have that segment in both voices. Use the merge rest engraver to merge the duplicated rests. 2. Around line 35 you have another \new Voice="alto1". At least conceptually this seems wrong as you want to reuse the existing voice. Therefore I'd write \context Voice="alto1" instead though I'm not sure it actually makes a difference.
