The following code shows how \tempo \markup can be used:
Fabulous -- thanks!
The first \tempo mark sets the speed as far as MIDI is concerned
but the
markup from the second is displayed. You can therefore customise its
appearance as much as you like.
I don't think I ever would have thought to have two \tempo marks to
generate one tempo change... but I'm glad it works!
Now I'll just write a music function to do both at once.
