Hi Kevin, I've written several music theory texts using LilyPond and LaTeX, with my preferred editor being Texmaker because it runs flawlessly on my KDE laptop. I can insert LilyPond content direct in the documents, or by just placing a PNG file of the score excerpt within a page. Then I can convert to PDF or any other format.
Are you familiar with LaTeX? That would be my first choice for what you're wanting to do. But if you'd prefer a lighter approach, just insert some PNGs of the score files into your document. That should do the trick. Good luck! Ben Kevin Tough wrote > As a Lilypond newbie in what direction should I be looking to be able to > create documentation including Lilypond's pdf output.
