As a matter of fact we did consider doing a "distribution lecture" but i think
that we havn't made up our minds about that yet.
As for talking about it with linux newbies: it seems pointless to me to show
people (who are new to linux) the difference between RH, MDK, Debian or
whatever before they even know the difference from Windows.

I configured 2 soft modems and one NVIDIA card. In all cases, it took me too
much time till i found the right drivers and downloaded it from the internet
and test it to see if it works. If we did so for every linux installation - i
think you might have had a good chance to see all those 75 people in the same
room, at the same time! ;\
But you didn't see them. didn't you?

There is nothing wrong in "hitting Enter" - that only means that the
installation went smooth without any problems. I am happy that linux
installations became so easy (in some cases) - this way more people get to
know linux.

How many windows users do you know who use the "not so easy option" in windows
aka DOS?
What i ment to say is that command-line may seem better to you, but it doesn't
seem so to the avarage windows user. And you, my friend, are not an averge
windows user (anymore).

If we had taken this time to explain about X or about configuring packs and
hardware, maybe we wouldn't need the basic administration lecture anymore, or
the Network/ADSL lecture or any other lecture at all.
My point is that we were aware of the fact that we can't show everything we
know about linux. That's why we have the "Welcome to linux" (aka W2L)
lectures. you can find the schedule here:
http://haifux.org/newcomers/timetable.html
You are more than welcomed to come and ask questions even if your questions
don't relate to the lecture's subject.
