Subject: Cheap hardware to do graphics on Linux?
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

My name is J. J. Ramsey, and I've been looking for advice on getting a
cheap Linux "workstation" (<= $1000) on which to do graphics,
specifically still 3D scenes. I am a newbie at this; I've never done
computer graphics before. (You know what they say, first time for
everything.)

How would you put together a machine that does high-quality graphics
for relatively little money? What tradeoffs would you make? What
parts of the computer (CPU, graphics card, memory) would you really
need to spend your money on, and what parts could you skimp on if you
had to?

Also, I've heard that graphics files can get huge. What storage
devices would you recommend?
