Try Axene at http://www.axene.com/. They have a DTP program (the name
escapes me at the moment) that comes relatively close to Pagemaker, imho.
They also have a spreadsheet and are coming out with a word processor (I
talked to them about a month ago and they said the WP was about a month
away -- should be here RSN).

The best part is you can try before you buy. They have a one month demo
license that disables printing and saving.

Definitely worth the time it takes to check out the page.

As a side note, drop a line to Adobe telling them that you are looking for
a DTP solution for Linux after having used their product in the past. If
they get enough mail like this, they might start *thinking* about
producing something for Linux.

I saw an announcement about a truetype engine for Linux on
comp.os.linux.announce. I'm sorry I don't remember much beyond that but
I'm sure a search among the normal engines should turn something up.

Hope this helps.

Blair.
