Dear Neighbors,

In the history of LincolnTalk, there has never been a single person
banned. Never. Ever. Not one single person banned.... Kicked off.
Disbarred. Excommunicated. Rejected.

When people violate list policies and disregard warnings (or several
warnings), they are put on moderation. This means the Moderators review
their posts and suggest edits when they continue to violate list policies.
If their posts are appropriate, they are sent right through.

Since we don't publicize when a member has been put on moderation, nobody
can say they have been singled out. As it happens, several people were
warned and/or put on moderation at the end of last week and over the
weekend.

People must also understand that this is a volunteer service and the people
moderating have jobs and families. Sometimes emails slip through or
sometimes things remain in the "holding pen" when we are sleeping, eating,
spending time with our families or attending to work. We are up front
about all of this in the welcome and policies on the website you all went
to in order to become a member.

It is a policy that, if you have something you'd like to say to the
moderators, you can send an email directly to us. Posting to the list
means you are not serious, but are looking for a bully pulpit. You're
looking for an audience, not a solution and a reminder of list policies is
all you're going to get.

So here's your reminder... Go have a review of the policies.

Margit
for the Moderators.
