Thanks Andy,
I have spoken with all the usual suspects-all those manufactures reps and 
distributors.
The bottom line, to date, is that there seems to be a huge trade-off in holding 
in heat, and allowing in sun for warmth.
The loser in this is the solar gain.

My old-school approach has been to have blinds open when there is sun, and 
closed when there is not-works pretty well.
The house is 70-72 degrees inside when the sun shines, regardless of how cold 
outside.

It would be nice to know that I can update my windows and sliders  without 
losing all that wonderful warmth/free heat  we now enjoy.
